Your story is moving.
Hi! I’m Stacy Bias, a freelance animator and illustrator. I help academics, researchers and non-profits turn research into powerful visual stories that create impact and social change. I specialise in storytelling for creative dissemination via 2D animation, explainer videos and illustration.
Stories are the most powerful tools in the world for creating empathy, understanding and engagement. As an artist with a 20+ year history of social justice activism, I am uniquely positioned to help you harness that power in animation and illustration with care, ethics and compassion.
Our Portfolio
ANIMATION SPECIALTIES
As a specialist in Health Communications animation, I have had the privilege of working with renowned institutions and organisations such as Penn State University, the Huck Centre for Infectious Disease Dynamics, University of Miami, and Cambridge University.
Animation is a creative, fun and collaborative process between researcher and animator, and a way to turn research findings into something that can be easily understood by a wide range of audiences, including those without a background in your field of research.
Animation is an engaging, accessible, and joyful artform that can break complex ideas into digestible nuggets. Its adaptable format can engage people intellectually and emotionally, and it can bring layers of excitement and resonance to technical subjects.
ANIMATION PROCESS
Hi! I’m Stacy Bias, an activist, artist and animator living in Glasgow, Scotland.
20+ years of social justice activism informs my practice and makes me ideally suited to work with academics, researchers, charities, NGOs and other mission-based organisations. I love combining research with illustration and animation to create humanising narratives that amplify marginalised voices. I also work frequently with academics in Health Communications, co-creating sensitive and effective educational resources for both practitioners and the communities they serve. My practice is collaborative and guided by the principles of intersectional feminism. My favourite projects target empathy and the places where it’s absent, asking questions about social legitimacy, barriers to access (both physically and socially) and the psychic and material impacts of exclusion.

Working with Stacy has been wonderful! Finding a creative that gets inclusion is so important – now more than ever, if you want to connect fully with your audience and you want an animation that you don’t need to retire – do it right the first time, Stacy will help you do that. In addition to this, she’s got the best personality and is a joy to engage with. Can’t wait to collab on something again! — Eleeshia Bauwise, UK Sport
Stacy is so wonderful to work with – her quirky, engaging and entertaining illustrations are brilliant and really bring things to life. As well as sourcing voiceovers, Stacy also makes helpful suggestions about scripts that really make the final illustrations first class. I recommend Stacy to you without hesitation! – Prof Peter Hopkins, Dean of Social Justice, Newcastle University
Stacy Bias is an extraordinarily gifted animator. She is not only an excellent artist, but she approaches the subject matter with uncommon sensitivity and an eye toward inclusion and diversity. I enjoyed working with Stacy at every stage, particularly as we carefully selected visual metaphors to help explain complex topics. I am looking forward to with her again on future projects. — Prof. Susan E Morgan, Assoc. Provost for Research Development, UMiami
Stacy Bias is an amazing collaborator! She asks relevant questions and listens to make sure she understands the goals of the project, and she does research to help make sure she is knowledgeable about the issues. Stacy is very creative in her approach. Her ability to take complex and abstract ideas and create visuals that make them easy to understand makes her projects truly exceptional. Stacy is very responsive and professional and I couldn’t imagine a better person to work with. — Prof Tyler R Harrison, Communication Studies, UMiami
Stacy’s work is second to none. She has an amazing ability to tell powerful and moving stories that amplify rather than belittle the voices of participants. A real strength of her work is her ability to work sensitively and empathetically to tell the stories of marginalised people’s experiences of stigmatisation in a way that encourages others to step outside of their positions of privilege and see things from another perspective. I cannot recommend her highly enough. — Dr Bethan Evans, Human Geography, University of Liverpool
Working with Stacy has been absolutely amazing, having the opportunity to collaborate and watch Stacy bring our story to life in such an understanding and diligent way was incredible, let alone the creativity and outstanding art she created. She carefully listened to our thoughts and transformed them beyond what we imagined, whilst also providing assistance on the script and voiceover. The final animation is exceptional! — Natalie Brown, Sports Wales
