Drink Spiking – Newcastle University

Newcastle University’s Student Health and Wellbeing Services commissioned me to make this campus safety animation about drink spiking. It covers the risks on and around campus, along with practical guidance on prevention, aftercare and where to find support, and it’s one of a series I made for the team on student safety.

Drink spiking is a frightening subject, so the challenge was keeping students visually engaged through both the uncomfortable scenarios and the drier, practical information about what to do if it happens, which is often not what people expect. I used geometric characters and a bright colour palette to keep things light and hold attention all the way through, so the advice is retained and able to be called up when people actually need it.

If your university or organisation has a wellbeing or safety message you’d like to bring to life through animation, I’d love to hear from you. Get in touch.
