Stroke Prevention and Transition of Care – Florida Stroke Registry
I created a series of six health communications animations for the University of Miami and the Florida Stroke Registry, working again with the wonderful Professor Susan E. Morgan, who I’d partnered with before on public health animation.
The animations were made for a public education campaign about stroke, running as an online ad campaign through 2025. Part of the goal was helping people recognise the signs of a stroke as they happen and understand why getting medical help straight away makes such a difference to how someone recovers. The later animations follow patients through recovery and the transition of care that comes after, when people are finding their feet again at home.
Stroke is a frightening subject, and people tend to look away from frightening things, so my job was to create animations warm and clear enough that someone would actually watch to the end and remember what to do. Working with Professor Morgan and her team, I focused on getting the medical detail right while keeping the films human, so the information is there to draw upon when it matters.
If you’re a researcher or public health team with a campaign you’d like to bring to life through health communications animation, I’d love to hear from you. Get in touch.
