Norm Creativity (Normkreativitet) – JM Norway
JM Norway is the Norwegian section of Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI) – the world’s largest international network for music and youth. Host to Norway’s Rock Camp for Girls among many other projects, JM Norway works under the vision “Making a difference through music”. As part of their education efforts, they also offer training to both youth and adults about social justice issues. Sofie Søndervik Sæther commissioned this piece as part of their Normcreative Crash Course workshop, to help build more inclusive activities and organisations.
Given the piece was intended for both youth and adult audiences, and for an international audience, the style and metaphors had to be understandable and appealing across generational and cultural differences. I chose cheerful colours and simple shapes that would easily translate across multiple languages and worked with Sofie to understand and incorporate Nordic visual symbols/references.
